Keratoconus

A cone-shaped bulge of the cornea, usually occurring at puberty. It is a thinning of the centre of the cornea and the beginning of myopia and irregular astigmatism due to abnormal curvature of the cornea. This disease can be corrected by the application of hard contact lenses where corrective action is combined with therapeutic effect.
