Keratopathy
This is a sensitive allergic reaction. Keratopathy can come in the following forms:
- Thiomersal – caused by preservatives (haptens) in solutions for storage of contact lenses. It is preservative thiomersal. Allergies of the cornea are manifested by upper limbic infection. The conjunctiva swelling can be observed whilst wearing contact lenses.
- Toxic – caused by toxins and the preservatives of drops and solutions (benzalkonium chloride). Allergic reactions are caused on the cornea.
