Pseudomonas
The most common pathogen met in the contact lenses for extended wear, is the he bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It may cause damage to the cornea.
After removing the contact lenses patient needs urgent treatment with antibiotics. Most strains of the excreted toxin is highly toxic with a considerably resistance to antibiotics and whereas it supports a number of other diseases. Such bacterium is closely monitored in medicine, hygiene and food microbiology.
