Chelation

Chelation is a form of contact lens care which is used to remove inorganic deposits, particularly calcium and magnesium salts.

The desired effect is achieved by adding in a cleaning solution, e.g. ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA) or sodium hexametaphosphate, complexing compounds which together with metal forms a stable soluble complex.
